Building a Life of Grace: 7 Daily Practices to Cultivate Calm and Confidence

Hey, mama!
I know how it feels to get caught up in the chaos of life—whether it’s homeschooling, running a household, or just trying to make sure everyone gets to all the places they need to go! Life can be so hard. As mothers we are always busy and life is demanding! Sometimes it feels like there’s little room left to breathe. There’s good news: It’s possible to build a life of grace, even in the chaos. You can carve out time to be intentional in life which will help you feel the grace and peace that you are searching for! You can cultivate a sense of calm and confidence, rooted in faith, that will help you navigate the highs and lows of everyday life.
Building a life of grace definitely doesn’t mean that it will be perfect—it’s about finding peace in the small moments and trusting that God is at work, even in the messy, imperfect parts of life. And when everyone is getting on your last nerve remember the grace that God gives you. They deserve that same grace! In this post, I’m sharing 7 daily practices that have helped me build a life of grace and that I pray will encourage you too. These are simple, but powerful, habits that focus on bringing God’s peace into your day.

1. Start Your Day with Prayer
The first thing I do every morning (and trust me, it’s so important) is spend time in prayer. Sometimes it’s before I get out of bed others it’s a quiet moment hiding in the bathroom. But before anything else, I seek God’s guidance for the day. I pray for peace in my husband, for my family’s well-being, and strength for me to get through the day. Starting with prayer helps me to remember that God is with me no matter what the day brings.
- Tip: Keep it simple. You don’t have to have a long, elaborate prayer. Just speak to God from the heart, and trust that He hears you. After all he’s your best friend!

2. Spend Time in Scripture
God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). If you want to build a life of grace, you’ve got to be grounded in truth. Spending time reading and meditating on Scripture every day gives you the wisdom and peace you need to face life’s challenges. Even if it’s just a few verses, let them sink deep into your soul.
- Tip: Start with a devotional or a Bible reading plan to help you stay consistent. If you’re short on time, try listening to the Bible on your phone while you do household chores! (I love the Bible app called YouVersion)

3. Practice Gratitude
Gratitude changes everything. It shifts your perspective from what you don’t have to what you do have—and when you focus on the blessings God has given you, you invite His peace into your life. Taking just a few minutes each day to thank God for the little things (and the big things) will help you feel more centered and less overwhelmed.
- Tip: Keep a gratitude journal and write down ten things you’re thankful for each day. I promise you’ll be amazed at how quickly this practice shifts your mindset. (It can be simple things like the house, food etc.)

4. Take Time for Rest
I know, mama, you’re busy. But listen, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Rest is essential to living a life of grace. Whether it’s taking a 5-minute break hiding in the bathroom from your kids, spending time in prayer or quiet reflection, or getting a good night’s sleep, make rest a priority. When we rest we are honoring God and the gift he gave us to slow down.
- Tip: Schedule “quiet time” into your day, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. Sit down, breathe, and recharge. Your family will thank you for it too! (God rested when he created the world, so I think we can rest too!)

5. Serve Others with Love
One of the most powerful ways to cultivate grace in your life is by loving others. Serving others, whether it’s through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a helping hand, brings a sense of purpose and fulfillment. It’s in these small, everyday acts of service that God works His grace through us. When we focus on others, it helps take the focus off our own stress and creates a heart of contentment.
- Tip: Look for simple ways to serve. You can start with something small—maybe a meal for a neighbor, helping a friend with a task, or just sending an encouraging note. These acts of love are powerful!

6. Listen to Worship Music
Music has a powerful way of calming our hearts and refocusing our minds on the goodness of God. One of the easiest ways to cultivate grace and peace throughout your day is by listening to worship music. Whether you’re in the car, cooking dinner, or folding laundry, filling your home with songs that glorify God shifts the atmosphere and helps you tune into His presence. Worship music reminds us of His promises, His faithfulness, and His love, helping us feel more grounded and confident in Him. Plus, it’s a beautiful way to keep your heart aligned with His throughout the busyness of life.
Tip: Create a playlist of your favorite worship songs or tune into a worship station. Let the music draw you closer to God and set the tone for your day.—whether personal, professional, or spiritual—gives you something to focus on and work toward. But it’s important to set goals that align with God’s plan for you and that allow room for His timing. When you seek His guidance in your goals, you can approach them with confidence and peace.
- Tip: Write down your goals, break them into small, manageable steps, and pray over them. Trust God to open doors, close doors, and guide you in the direction He wants you to go.

7. Cultivate Contentment in the Present Moment
In today’s world, we’re often tempted to look ahead to what we don’t have, or what’s coming next. But peace and grace are found in the present moment. When you cultivate contentment in your current season of life, you create room for joy and peace to grow. No matter how messy or imperfect your day feels, remember that God is right there with you in it.
- Tip: Practice mindfulness in the moment. When you’re washing dishes, folding laundry, or homeschooling, do it with a heart of thankfulness. Focus on the task at hand and remind yourself that this is where God has you right now—and that’s enough.
Conclusion
Building a life of grace doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a daily practice of leaning into God’s peace, trusting in His provision, and choosing gratitude over stress. It’s about finding joy and confidence in the small, everyday moments, and remembering that His grace is always enough for whatever we face.
If you commit to these 7 daily practices—prayer, Scripture, gratitude, rest, service, goal-setting, and contentment—you’ll start to see a shift in how you approach life. With each passing day, you’ll feel more grounded, calm, and confident in God’s plan for your life.
